Buttock Augmentation

If you want to enlarge or reshape your buttocks and have discovered that they do not respond to diet or exercise, buttock augmentation may be the solution you’ve been looking for. A buttock augmentation (butt augmentation) or buttock lift (butt lift) contours the buttocks and compensates for low amounts of fat in the area. Women and men who enlarge their bottoms can enjoy a more voluptuous and perky profile. Augmentation may be achieved through injections of the patient’s own body fat or with silicone implants.

What are my options?

Buttock augmentation can be performed using several different techniques, depending on each patient’s personal preferences, fat distribution and desired results. Patients can choose between injections of their own body fat or the use of silicone implants, which come in a wide range of shapes and sizes. Autologous fat transfer is the preferred choice, as it provides more natural results and a lower risk of infection, although implants may be recommended for patients with little body fat. Dr. Trussler will discuss these options with you prior to your procedure in order to produce the best results for your individual needs.

Considerations

Buttock augmentation can enhance the natural curves for patients who are unhappy with the shape of their rear ends. It can also add volume and roundness to a flat or small butt for patients seeking a more balanced body profile. Body-builders may seek buttock augmentation if they are unable to develop gluteal muscles in proportion with the rest of their bodies. Generally, if you are looking for a fuller, curvier butt, buttock augmentation may be for you.;

Expectations

When performed by an experienced surgeon using the proper techniques, buttock augmentation is a highly satisfying and permanent procedure that enhances the profile of the buttocks and surrounding areas for a younger, firmer, curvier look.

Treatment

The buttock augmentation procedure can vary depending on which method is used. For fat transfer patients, the patient’s own fat is first collected through liposuction, usually from the lower back, waist or flanks. The removed fat is then purified in a special process. During a second procedure, the donor fat is placed into the buttocks through hundreds of tiny injections at different depths in order to ensure an even, attractive augmentation.

Buttock augmentation using implants involves an incision made in the buttocks, in which a pocket is created and the implant is precisely positioned. Scar tissue will gradually form around the implant to keep it in place. This procedure is performed under general anesthesia and usually takes one to two hours to perform.

Implants can only be used to augment the upper and outer portions of the buttocks, while fat injections can provide an overall enhancement. In both cases, Dr. Trussler will evaluate the buttocks to make sure they appear natural and symmetrical before finishing the procedure.

After Care & Recovery

After buttock augmentation with fat transfer or silicone implants, patients should avoid sitting directly on the buttocks or lying on their backs for two to three weeks to maximize results. During this time, compression garments may be worn to reduce swelling. Patients may experience some pain or discomfort, bruising and swelling after the procedure. Most patients return to work two weeks after their buttock augmentation and are able to resume all normal activities within four weeks. Swelling typically dissipates by the sixth week.
