Injectable Fillers

Soft tissue fillers are injected under the skin to "plump up," contour and smooth wrinkles, lines and hollow areas in the face and to augment the lips or cheeks for a younger, fuller appearance.

JUVÉDERM® Injectable Gel

Juvéderm®; is an injectable gel that gently reverses many signs of aging in the face, including fine lines and wrinkles, crow's feet, thinning lips and loosening skin. It can also "plump up" the lips, sculpt the cheeks, and restore a youthful oval shape to the face. It is made with hyaluronic acid, a natural substance found in the body that works with collagen and elastin to give volume and support to the skin. Because it is non-animal-based and highly biocompatible, no pre-treatment testing is needed. Juvéderm® comes in three formulas optimized for the depth of the area being treated. Results last about 6-9 months and can be made to last even longer with a simple follow-up treatment a few weeks after the initial injection.

Restylane®

Restylane® is designed to smooth wrinkles, sculpt lips and shape facial contours. It is a clear, synthetic gel made with hyaluronic acid, a natural substance that is found throughout your body. It carries little risk of allergic reaction. The most common areas for treatment are the glabellar lines (between the eyebrows) and the nasolabial folds (from the root of the nose to the angle of your mouth). With its unique ability to bind with water, Restylane remains in your skin for many months.

Is Restylane safe?
Yes. Restylane has been used safely by dermatologists and plastic surgeons since 1996 worldwide. Because Restylane is non-animal-based and fully biocompatible, allergy testing is not required. The most commonly reported side effects were temporary redness and swelling at the injection site. These effects typically resolve within two to three days.

How is Restylane different from BOTOX® and collagen?
Restylane is a natural cosmetic filler. BOTOX® is a drug that blocks nerve transmission and relaxes the underlying muscles. Many patients have been very pleased after receiving treatment with both products.

Bovine collagen is derived from animals and requires an allergy test before it can be used. Because Restylane is a non-animal-based hyaluronic acid, it can be administered without pre-testing. In addition, it delivers a longer-lasting effect than bovine collagen.

Radiesse™

Radiesse™ is a synthetic injectable filler that reduces wrinkles, creases and scars by augmenting the body's natural collagen supply. Composed of microspheres in a biocompatible gel, Radiesse is made from the same minerals found in our bones, so it carries little risk of allergic reaction. Radiesse can be used on many areas of the body, including the lips, nasolabial folds, peri-oral lines, depressed scars and oral commissures.

Treatments typically take 15 minutes and require only local anesthetic. Side effects such as swelling or bruising are minimal and should fade within a few days. Results are visible immediately after the injection and can last for months or years, although the procedure can be repeated as often as you wish.

What can I expect during treatment?
At your Radiesse® treatment, your doctor will clean the treatment area and administer a series of quick injections with a fine needle. Treatments typically take 15 minutes and require only local anesthetic. There is little to no downtime; many patients return to their normal activities after their appointment.

Patients typically need only one or two treatments to achieve the full effect of Radiesse®. Your doctor may recommend a follow-up appointment to determine whether you would benefit from additional treatments.

Sculptra®

Sculptra® is an injectable product that corrects the signs of facial fat loss (lipoatrophy) by restoring lost volume in the skin. Lipoatrophy can result in sunken cheeks, indentations and hollow eyes. Injected into the deep dermis layer of the skin, Sculptra® provides a gradual and significant increase in skin thickness, improving the appearance of folds and sunken areas. Note that Sculptra® does not treat lipoatrophy, but it does compensate for its effects.

The results from Sculptra® are not immediate but they are long-lasting. In a clinical study, effects lasted for up to two years after the first treatment session in most patients. No skin testing is required.

Who is a candidate for Sculptra®?
Sculptra® is FDA-approved for lipoatrophy correction in patients suffering from human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). It is the first FDA-approved product of its kind. Sculptra® should not be used in patients who have active skin infections or inflammation (swelling) in the area to be treated, or who are allergic to any of its ingredients.

Latisse™

Full, natural-looking eyelashes can now be achieved through a prescription treatment called Latisse™.  Latisse is the first and only eyelash treatment approved by the FDA to help grow longer, fuller and darker eyelashes and treat hypotrichosis, a condition that includes having inadequate or not enough eyelashes.

Latisse contains bimatoprost, an active ingredient that improves the appearance of your lashes and is often found in glaucoma medication.  While the precise science of the treatment is not known, research suggests that the number of hairs and duration of the growth process are increased by bimatoprost. 

This prescription medication is applied topically to the base of the eyelashes once a day, after makeup and contact lenses have been removed and any other skincare products have already been applied.  While it does not replace mascara, Latisse offers an attractive complement to help further enhance full, long and beautiful lashes.
